Every check on a public profile carries its last-checked date because trust decays, and a verification from three years ago is a historical fact, not a current one.\n\nThat decay is not a rhetorical flourish. Licenses lapse mid-year. Firms dissolve and their websites keep running like nothing happened. Our piece on quarterly bar-standing rechecks documents what a systematic sweep actually catches, and the honest answer is: more than we expected when we started. Suspensions that never made the news, retirements nobody updated, the occasional disbarment attached to a profile still advertising for clients. Annual checks miss these for months. Verification on this site describes firms, one at a time, on stated dates, from documents.
