Focus and practice areas

Bennett & Belfort, P.C. works in three connected fields: employment law, business law, and real estate litigation. The Cambridge firm takes on clients from both sides of the employment relationship. Individual employees and corporate employers both appear in its stated client base.

The employment side carries the most detail. The firm handles discrimination claims, sexual harassment matters, payment of wages cases, and employee misclassification disputes. It also drafts and litigates around non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.

Employee handbooks and personnel manuals fall under the same practice. So do employment contracts and severance agreements. Whistleblower and retaliation claims round out the employment list.

Business and real estate work

On the business side, Bennett & Belfort handles contract disputes, unfair competition claims, and business torts. Partnership and shareholder disputes sit in the same group. These matters often overlap with the employment work: a departing executive and a broken partnership can raise the same set of questions.

The real estate litigation practice covers commercial landlord-tenant disputes and construction litigation. In my opinion this is the part of the firm's offering that explains its shape. Commercial tenancy fights and construction claims both turn on contract language, and that skill transfers directly from the employment agreement work.

How the team is built

Thirteen attorneys appear on the firm's Who We Are page, with titles listed for each. Todd J. Bennett and David E. Belfort are both listed as Founder & Partner. Four more attorneys carry the partner title, and the remaining seven are associates.

Bennett received his legal training at the University of Miami School of Law and graduated in 1996. His work covers employment and labor matters, business litigation, and real estate litigation, and includes drafting and negotiating employment contracts, severance agreements, and non-competition provisions.

Belfort graduated the same year, taking his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law after a B.A. from Hobart College in 1992. His practice covers wrongful termination, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, and non-competition agreements, alongside commercial work. Two founders admitted to practice in the same year gives the firm a fairly even leadership structure.

The partner group

Eric R. LeBlanc studied at Boston College as an undergraduate and took his law degree from Suffolk University Law School. He is a litigator whose practice covers employment law, commercial and business law, and construction, including stockholder and partnership disputes alongside discrimination and wage claims. His mix of construction and employment work mirrors the firm's own structure.

Michael L. Mason has been with Bennett & Belfort since 2005, which makes him one of the longest-serving attorneys on the roster. He earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 2004, following an M.A. from American University in 2001 and a B.A. from the University of Arizona in 1998. He handles employment and labor, business, and landlord and tenant matters.

Craig D. Levey graduated from New England Law | Boston in 2011 and represents clients in business litigation and in employment litigation on the plaintiff side. Michaela C. May graduated from Boston University School of Law in 2009. Her practice covers employment and labor matters, including discrimination and contracts, along with civil litigation, and she represents employee and employer clients alike.

The associate bench

Seven associates fill out the roster, and several have recent graduation dates. Eric R. Lassar attended Boston College Law School and graduated in 2021. He handles employment and labor matters on behalf of employees and assists with business litigation.

William E. Petrone is also a Boston College Law School graduate, from 2022. He focuses on employment litigation for plaintiffs and handles employment and labor matters for employees. Nafisa M. Bohra practices in employment and labor matters and civil litigation.

Zak Hammond is a senior associate at the firm. In June 2026 he moderated and spoke on a panel about trial strategies at the National Employment Lawyers Association's annual convention in New Orleans. NELA is a plaintiff-side employment bar organisation, and a speaking slot on trial strategy suggests courtroom experience worth noting.

Emily Batcheler and Yee Yee Myint complete the associate group. Myint practices at the firm's Cambridge office.

What the record shows

Several patterns emerge from the attorney list. Boston-area law schools dominate: Suffolk, Boston University, Boston College, and New England Law | Boston all appear. Bennett & Belfort recruits locally, and that fits a firm whose litigation runs through Massachusetts courts and agencies.

The plaintiff-side employment orientation shows up repeatedly in the individual practice descriptions. Levey, Lassar, and Petrone all have plaintiff-side employment litigation listed as part of their work. Hammond's NELA panel points the same direction. At the same time, May represents both employee and employer clients, and the firm's business and real estate practices bring corporate clients through the door.

Language access

The firm states "Hablamos Español" in the footer of its home, about and contact pages. Spanish-language capacity matters in wage and misclassification cases, where the workers most affected are often the ones least likely to find counsel who can take instructions in their own language. As a reviewer, I read that footer line as a practical signal about who the firm expects to hear from.

Reading the public material

The firm's own pages set out practice areas in plain terms and name every attorney with a title. Educational detail is available for most of the roster, with law schools and graduation years given. That level of disclosure lets a prospective client work out who might handle their matter before making contact.

The site does not state a founding year, and it carries no links to social media accounts. The firm's blog does produce dated content: the Hammond panel write-up from June 2026 is one example.

Thirteen attorneys puts Bennett & Belfort in the mid-size range for a Massachusetts litigation firm. It has enough depth to staff a case with more than one lawyer, and enough focus that its attorneys keep returning to the same body of law. Employment claims, business disputes and commercial property litigation account for the whole of the published practice list.
