The Verified Directory

Verification-first directory

Find verified law firms across the United States

Verification you can read: what was checked, how, and when — dated, independent, revocable. Not advertising dressed up as trust.

Listings are ordered by membership tier. The Verified badge is earned from approved evidence, not payment; docket-practice checking is available only on Premium.

A law firms directory built on evidence, not advertising

VerifiedLawFirms is a verification-first law firms directory for the United States. Every published profile is editor-reviewed, and firms can document bar standing, business registration, and insurance & disciplinary history against real records — Premium firms can add docket-verified practice. When an editor approves that evidence, the firm earns a green Verified badge. Search by practice area and state, compare firms on facts instead of ad spend, then contact the firm you choose. Verification is optional and never depends on how much a firm pays.

How the directory works

A firm earns trust by proving things, one check at a time. Here is the path from a new submission to a published listing — and how a firm earns verification along the way.

Submit Verify Listed your firm the evidence after review
1

Submit

A firm submits its details and pays to begin. The account is created only after payment, which keeps spam out.

2

Verify

The firm can upload evidence for the three standard checks on any plan; docket-verified practice is Premium-only. An editor reviews every document and approves checks one by one. Files stay private.

3

Listed

The profile publishes after editor approval, with a dated row for each check it passed. Status shows independently of the plan.

Why “verified” means something here

The green Verified badge means at least one editor-approved document check. These are the four checks a firm can document — each backed by stored evidence and a date, never decorative, never fabricated.

01

Business entity

Active Secretary-of-State registration.

02

Bar standing

Attorney bar standing editor-checked, rechecked quarterly.

03

Docket-verified practice

Real, recent case activity in public court dockets (CourtListener). Premium only.

04

Professional liability insurance & disciplinary history

Current malpractice coverage on file; screened against state-bar discipline.

Why this law firms directory is different

Most legal directories sell placement and call it trust. We separate the two. A badge here means we saw the proof and dated it, and we can revoke it if the facts change.

Evidence, not ad spend

Every badge is backed by a stored document an editor reviewed. No badge is for sale.

Dated and revocable

Each check shows when it was last confirmed. Bar standing is rechecked quarterly, and a disbarment suspends the listing.

Independent of payment

A Basic firm can be fully verified. A higher tier changes listing order and features, never a verification outcome.

Frequently asked questions

What is a verified law firms directory?

It is a directory where a firm earns a green Verified badge only from checked, dated evidence rather than advertising. An editor approves each check individually — bar standing, business registration, insurance & disciplinary history, or docket-verified practice on Premium — and a single approved check earns the badge; verification is optional and independent of what a firm pays.

Is VerifiedLawFirms a lawyer referral service?

No. We are an independent directory. We do not match, recommend, or refer you to any firm, and nothing on the site is legal advice. You decide which firm to contact.

Does it cost anything to search the directory?

No. Searching and viewing firm profiles is free for the public. Fees apply only to law firms that want a listing or a higher membership tier.

What does it mean when a firm is verified?

It means we reviewed evidence for a specific check and approved it on the date shown. Verification confirms facts such as an active license. It does not guarantee quality or the outcome of your case.

How do I find the right law firm here?

Search by practice area and state, or start from your situation. Compare the verification badges and last-checked dates on each profile, read any client reviews, then contact the firm directly.

How do law firms get listed?

A firm submits its details and pays to begin, or claims an existing Basic listing. The account is created only after payment. Verification is a separate, evidence-based step that an editor approves.

Is verification tied to how much a firm pays?

No. The Verified badge is earned from approved evidence, not payment. A Basic firm can document the three standard checks just like any tier; only docket-verified practice is Premium-only. Plan tier affects listing order and features.
